The medicinal & aromatic plants

Since ancient times, herbs have been of great importance in people's lives,

becoming a component of curative treatments. Hippocrates, the so-called

father of medicine, was one of the first to observe and study the therapeutic

properties of the herbs. Then followed by Theofrastus, who was also

considered to be the father of botany and Dioskouridis. Medicinal and

aromatic plants play an important role in people’s health throughout the world, especially in developing countries. Human societies throughout the world

have acquired a wide range of empirical knowledge, mainly over the centuries,

in the medicinal uses of plants.A medicinal plant is defined as any plant used:

(a) to alleviate, prevent or cure a disease or modify a physiological or pathological process, and (b) as a source for the production of medicines
